Three drivers charged

On Saturday around 2:15 a.m., a member of the Fort Frances OPP was advised of a traffic complaint while on patrol.
The motor vehicle was located and through conversation with the driver, the officer determined he had consumed alcohol.
After failing the roadside screening device, the driver was arrested and taken to the Fort Frances OPP detachment, where he underwent further testing.
As a result, a 46-year-old male of Crombie Settlement, N.B. was charged with driving with a blood alcohol level over .08 mg.
He was released on a promise to appear in court here on Dec. 31.
About a half-hour later, another member of the Rainy River District OPP conducted a vehicle stop on King’s Highway in Fort Frances for a Highway Traffic Act violation.
Through conversation with the driver, the officer determined he had consumed alcohol.
After failing the roadside screening device, the driver was arrested and taken to the Fort Frances OPP detachment, where he underwent further testing.
As a result, a 29-year-old Fort Frances male was charged with driving with a blood alcohol level over .08 mg.
He was released on a promise to appear in court here on Jan. 7.
And on Sunday around 12:45 a.m., an officer responded to a suspicious motor vehicle in the west end of Fort Frances.
Officers located the vehicle and conducted a vehicle stop. Through conversation with the driver, it was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol.
After also failing the roadside screening device, he was arrested and taken to the OPP detachment, where he underwent further testing.
As a result, a 20-year-old male from Baudette, Mn. was charged with driving with a blood alcohol level over .08 mg.
He was released on a promise to appear in court here on Dec. 31.
All three had their motor vehicles impounded for seven days and each given a 90-day licence suspension.
The OPP wishes to remind the public that impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal death in Canada.
