‘The Wild Turkeys’ coming here soon

Cornell Farms is pleased to announce “The Wild Turkeys” as the headliner for the final barn concert of the season on Saturday, Sept. 12.
This group of talented musicians, comprised of brothers from two families in Sault Ste. Marie, came together in the winter of 2006.
Since then, the “Turkeys” have maintained a busy schedule performing at festivals, house concerts, and small venues.
They’ve had the privilege of sharing the stage with artists such as the Cowboy Junkies, Prairie Oyster, Creaking Tree String Quartet, and Washboard Hank.
The band has an engaging stage presence and an energetic sound which can best be described as “Swamp-Stomp Country.”
This sizzling hot group of pickin’ and grinnin’ cowboys come armed with fiddles, mandolin, guitar, bass, harmonica, a tin can percussive suitcase contraption, and their own brand of melodic four-part harmony.
In April, 2007, “The Wild Turkeys” released their first independently-funded, original album entitled “Unplucked.”
It quickly gained nominations from the Northern Ontario Music and Film in Motion Awards for “Best Album” and “Best Songwriter.”
Their second, full-length album, “Suspendered,” was released the following April.
In three short years, this remarkable group quickly has gained national and international recognition.
“The Wild Turkeys” no doubt will fill the Cornells’ barn with a brand of energetic country music that will leave those on hand wanting more.
The opening act for the evening will be “The Ivalls” from Rainy River. This family trio, consisting of Heidi, David, and Matthew, has enjoyed making music at various functions across the district for several years.
Their acoustic sounds cover a wide range of well-known tunes, as well as Matt’s original material.
Tickets for the final barn concert cost $12 in advance, available at the Fort Frances Public Library, Clover Valley Farmers’ Market, Greensides in Devlin, and Cornell Farms (486-3477), and $15 at the door.
