Shortly before 4 p.m. on Friday, the OPP Communications Centre received multiple calls from the public regarding a female who appeared intoxicated and waving a handgun as she walked along Colonization Road East near the overpass in Fort Frances.
OPP officers attended the scene immediately, and located a female walking down the north side of the overpass acting erratically.
Police had to stop traffic on the overpass while they arrested the woman, who was taken into custody without incident.
Further investigation revealed she was intoxicated and that the gun was a black plastic replica.
Cheryl Spade, 19, of Ignace was arrested and charged with possession of weapon for dangerous purpose.
She is scheduled to appear in court here May 17.
