Kenora OPP charged a 13-year-old youth with uttering threats and mischief yesterday for writing threatening messages on the side of Our Lady of the Valley School there.
The writing—located outside of the school—included threats of a bomb in the building.
A search of the school by police and staff turned up no such device, and the threat was determined to be a hoax.
The writing was located by an employee of the school when he arrived for work yesterday morning.
As a precaution, the school was closed and no students were allowed inside.
Students instead were diverted to classes at Ecole Ste. Marguerite Bourgeoys and St. Thomas Aquinas High School.
Students returned to Our Lady of the Valley School after lunch.
The teen, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is to appear in court at a later date.
