Sturgeon Creek welcomes new staff

“Welcome back!” was principal Don McBride’s opening remarks to students at Sturgeon Creek School who have been busy settling into classroom routines and getting to know their teachers.
“We look forward to the new school year with a great deal of enthusiasm. Please remember you are always welcome in your school,” McBride added.
Sturgeon Creek welcomed several new staff members for the 2003-04 school year, including teachers Andrea Lee (Grade 3/4 in the a.m. and Grade 1/2 in the p.m.) and Phillip Giles (French in the a.m.) as well as education assistants Sherri Kreger, and Bev Arpin.
Other staff there include Vicki Ogilvie (JK/SK), Mary Ann Haw (Grade 1/2 in the a.m.), Krista Williams (Spec. Ed. in the a.m. and Grade 3/4 in the p.m.), Dave Ogilvie (Grade 4/5), Wayne Barron (Grade 5/6), Darcy Jack (Grade 7/8), and Elizabeth Jack (Grade 7/8)
Support staff includes Laura Mutz (communication), Rose Kreger (library), and the other two education assistants—Florabelle Both and Norma-Jean Johnston.
Joyce Pollard is the secretary while Robert Hanzuk is the custodian.
Sturgeon Creek held its third-annual Terry Fox Run last Friday (Sept. 19) starting at 1:30 p.m., with students walking along the boundaries of the school yard.
The school held an open house this past Monday (Sept. 22), when parents were introduced to teachers and could tour the classrooms.
