Sturgeon Creek Bridge replaced

The Sturgeon Creek Bridge, that’s located on Highway 11 about 8.5 km west of Highway 71, was recently improved by the Ministry of Transportation.
The former bridge was replaced with a new single span 48-metre-long bridge that has steel girders and a concrete deck.
Work started in May of 2019 and wrapped up last month.
In January, the project was awarded to PCL Constructors Northern Ontario Inc of Winnipeg for $7.3 million.
Due to the wet and cold weather this fall, the contractor placed a temporary cold mix asphalt surface on the bridge deck, allowing the structure to be open to traffic this year.
Once the snow melts in the spring, final paving of the bridge will take place.
