Students help clean up Emo

Students from SK to Grade 8 at Donald Young School participated in a town cleanup on Friday, May 2. The township purchased lunch for each student to show its appreciation for a job well done.
In other news, students in Grades 3 and 6 began their provincial testing this past week on reading, writing, and mathematics.
The recent Jump Rope for Heart at DYS was a huge success with 89 participants raising more than $4,300 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

DYS also held its speech contest on Friday, May 2, with students in Grades 6-8 participating. Congratulations to Maverick Judson, Terry Carmody, Rachel Hettinga, Tegan Kaemingh, Kerrilyn Esselink, Heather Williams, Delaney Johnson, Taylor Meyers, and Luke Judson for representing their classes at the contest.
Kerrilyn Esselink was chosen to represent DYS at the district speech contest, which was held yesterday at 6:30 p.m. at Robert Moore School in Fort Frances.
The DYS library is in the process of replacing older books with brand new ones.
The DYS parent council has organized a work bee for Saturday, May 24 starting at 9 a.m. Your assistance will be appreciated.
And don’t forget the D.A.R.E. graduation is set for June 5.
