String camp to be held Aug. 11-16

Calling all string players of all ages and levels!

The Rainy Lake Community Orchestra is hosting its annual summer string camp beginning Sunday, Aug. 11 at the Ranier Community Building.

Registration is not required. The first rehearsals will be held on Sunday, Aug. 11.

The Rainy Lake Sinfonia (Youth and less experienced players) rehearses at 4-5 p.m. each day, Sunday through Thursday.

The Rainy Lake Orchestra (Adult and Advanced Students) practice from 5:30 to 7 p.m. each day.

This year, professional musicians will be coming from as far as Chicago, the Minneapolis- St. Cloud area, North Carolina, and Winnipeg, Manitoba to share their expertise and experience.

Area string musicians are welcome to attend practices and to join in activities at Camp Idlewood, including individual lessons and group practices.

Also, this year, New York City Opera singer, Kristen Sampson, will be guest soloist. Ms. Sampson, who performs worldwide, is currently performing in Hungary.

A concert, free and open to the public, will be held on Friday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Ranier Community Building. Free will offering.
