Visiting the Stratton Toy Library, I discussed different programs with Sandy Shrumm, who was looking after the day’s activities while co-ordinator Patti Nordin was engaged with other matters.
Shrumm did indicate that because their Wednesday after-school program has become a great success, the toy library will have to revert to the following changes.
They had about 28 children wanting to attend each week (14 each from Our Lady of the Way and Sturgeon Creek). So for safety and supervision reasons, the board and staff decided the groups should be split in half on craft nights.
The decision will enable staff to spend more time with each child and provide a safe environment for everyone. If a child cannot attend on a craft night, alternate arrangements can be arranged.
One parent volunteer is required and welcomed for each week on craft nights and baking night. Please let Patti know when you would like to help out.
November’s schedule is as follows:
Nov. 4–Tortillas. Everyone is welcome but they will have to divide the two groups up into two rooms (same fee and time).
Nov. 11–Wooden Snowman. STL is asking that Our Lady of the Way school kids attend this week (same fee and time).
Nov. 18–Wooden Snowman. STL is asking Sturgeon Creek kids attend this week (same fee and time).
Nov. 25–Indoor Games. Everyone welcome (same fee and time).
STL will schedule snacks according to which school attends on craft nights. All will be notified to whose turn it is one week in advance.
