A new structure will replace the English River Bridge on Highway 804 near Ear Falls to provide better driving conditions, create about 20 jobs and support the Northern economy.
T & K Sharp Construction of Stratton, Ont. was awarded the contract and will complete the work in the spring of 2012.
With support from the province, this bridge replacement will help increase economic development in the region.
Investing in Ontario’s roads and bridges is part of the McGuinty government’s plan to create good jobs for families in the face of global economic uncertainty.
The highway will be closed to traffic at times during construction.
Improving Northern Ontario’s transportation infrastructure is part of the Growth Plan for Northern Ontario.
Since 2003, the Ontario government has improved 2,560 kilometres of highway and 185 bridges, and constructed 105 kilometres of new four lane highway along with 115 new bridges throughout Northern Ontario.
