STL marks 11th anniversary

This past week, the Stratton Toy Library celebrated its 11th anniversary, with the youngsters given a free birthday cupcake.
Some recent winners at STL included Ben Miller (Easter Basket) and Chantel Heyens, who won the Easter candy with a guess of 175 in the jar (the actual amount was 174).
Meanwhile, the STL is having a Mother’s Day draw tomorrow (May 10) for a $20 gift certificate from Fern’s Bedding Plants, north of Stratton.
Watch for its Father’s Day draw between June 1-14.
STL has a big thank you to Northwords, Debby Cousineau and Sharon Demchuk, for appearing at the centre and providing activities for the kids. They also brought books to be handed out to children donated from the Healthy Babies Coalition.
Thirteen children participated.
The centre also welcomes two new spare workers, Wanda Heyens and Yolanda Rempel, into their midst.
STL reminds everyone of the Stratton UCW tea and bake sale coming up this Saturday (May 12) from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the seniors’ drop-in centre next door.
The next STL board meeting is slated Friday, May 18 at 10 a.m., with the Stratton Fish Derby going Saturday, May 19 at Morley Park.
There is an array of kids activities scheduled throughout the month of May. Pick up your newsletter for dates and times.
A reminder also that the annual walk-a-thon is scheduled June 27, with the route going from the STL to Morley Park and back. Pledge sheets will be available in June at the centre.
Everyone is welcome to participate but those under seven must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver. Volunteers also are needed to help out with lunch at Morley Park.
The STL co-ordinator said the centre will begin summer hours in the first week in July.
