An affordable annual membership is required to borrow any items from the Stratton Toy Library, noted co-ordinator Patti Brown, who is being assisted by Laurie Anderson.
The STL provides a variety of stimulating toys that are appropriate for children up to 12 years of age, including those for children with special needs.
By seeing toys in action, parent also are able to evaluate the suitability and desirability of them. Each child may borrow one toy at a time for up to two weeks after your membership is paid.
All toys should be returned clean.
Baby/infant items may be reserved in advance. STL has available one infant swing, one exerciser, two playpens, a jolly jumper, two monitors, and one breast pump.
Other items available for loan include resource books and videos on topics such as parenting, pregnancy, childbirth, and child and teen development.
“Come browse through our selection,” said Brown, addingvarious craft magazines and books for pre-schoolers to adult also are available at the STL.
Meanwhile, workshops coming up this fall at the STL include Red Cross First Aid/CPR. Those interested must be age 16 or older, and pre-registration is required.
A minimum of 10 participants is needed in order for the class to begin.
A babysitting course is being offered to those age 12 and over, and pre-registration again is required. At least six participants are needed for it to begin.
