Still plenty of fires burning

One new fire was reported by mid-afternoon yesterday in the Northwest Region.
Nipigon Fire #51 is not yet under control at 0.5 hectares in size.
There currently are 68 active fires in the region, 51 of which are listed as “being observed.”
Eleven fires are “under control,” three are “being held,” and three are not yet under control.
The fire hazard for the region ranges from “low” to “high.”
The area of most concern is along the Manitoba border.
Meanwhile, Ontario continues to support firefighting efforts with personnel in Alberta (155), B.C. (98), the Northwest Territories (42), Saskatchewan (seven), Manitoba (five), and the Yukon (two).
The province also is providing equipment, including fire hose, sprinkler kits, pumps, and chainsaws.
