Spring Fever Days a rousing success

The best in a long time was how Emo Reeve Russ Fortier described this year’s version of Spring Fever Days, which ran last Thursday through Saturday.
“I would guess from talking to people downtown it was the most successful in years,” said Reeve Fortier. “The weather certainly helped and the merchants were pleased with the turnout.”
The last two years were plagued with rain or snow, but this year—despite being held a week earlier due to the Easter holiday—it was nothing but blue skies and mild temperatures to help people get in the mood for spring.
“We had a great weekend,” remarked Tammy Foster of Nestor Falls Marine, which once again hosted a boat show at the Emo Arena all three days.
“To be able to have Spring Fever Days without rain or snow is real bonus,” she added.
Scott Mosbeck of Tompkin’s Hardware said the Front Street business was busy throughout the three-day event with a constant stream of customers.
“It was a pretty steady crowd for all three days,” he noted. “It was good to see.”
Emo Chamber of Commerce president Colleen Vennechenko said she was kept on her feet all weekend by the flow of customers at the Corner Closet—and was ready to call it quits by the time it all ended at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
“I thought it was extremely busy and successful,” she said. “It was at least as good as last year, if not better.”
Merchants weren’t the only winners on the weekend. Three lucky people won a total of $1,000 in Emo Bucks in three separate draws held Saturday afternoon at the Circle D restaurant.
Candy Greengrass of Stratton took the grand prize of 500 in Emo Bucks on a ticket she purchased at KP Computers in Emo.
Dixie Kinnear of Emo purchased a ticket at the Canasian Restaurant, which turned out to be good for 250 in Emo Bucks, while Charlene Mikolash of Fort Frances won the other $250 prize on a ticket she bought at the Corner Closet.
Emo Bucks are as good as cash at all participating businesses in Emo for the next three months.
