Knox United Church in Emo will be hosting a special evening of Christmas music next Saturday (Nov. 14) starting at 7 p.m.
“Sounds of Holiday Cheer” will feature the entertaining sounds of the new Borderland Children’s Choir, directed by Diane Maxey.
The cost of admission ($10 per person or $25 per family) will include tickets for the “Shiny Penny Table,” as well as desserts, coffee, tea, and an evening of enjoyable entertainment.
The penny table will feature fantastic “theme baskets,” with the final draw for these baskets to take place during Emo’s annual “Holly Daze” festivities in early December.
Tickets for the “Sounds of Holiday Cheer” may be purchased at the church.

The Emo Spray Park committee would like to thank the volunteers who worked so hard this fall in response to its plea for assistance.
These hard-working folks, some of whom put in many hours of service, will be officially recognized at a later date.
Thanks to their dedicated efforts, the spray park will be completed and ready for use early next summer.
However, the final construction work, which will take place in the spring, will require an extra infusion of cash. So if you still would like to buy a memorial brick or make a direct donation, call the Emo municipal office at 482-2378.
Donors will receive a tax receipt and be recognized on a plaque in the park.

The Emo Meals on Wheels/Handi-Transit Van committee is looking for volunteers to drive the van.
If you have your ‘F’ licence or better, and are willing to offer your time, call your local municipal office as soon as possible at the following numbers: Township of Emo (482-2378), Township of La Vallee (486-3452), Township of Chapple (487-2354) or Township of Morley (483-5455).
Trips will be booked in advance and the drivers given adequate notice.
The van is a valuable asset to our communities and makes life so much easier for many of our residents. Please consider donating your time.

The Emo “Holly Daze” committee once again will be staging a “Beautiful Baby” contest this year.
If you have a beautiful baby who is under 18 months of age, and would like to enter him/her in the contest, contact Cheryl at Meyers Clothing (482-2893).
The voting, which will take place during “Holly Daze” on Dec. 3-5, will be done by shoppers dropping coins in the bucket of their choice.
Monies raised from this event will go to a local charity, which has yet to be determined.
