Skilled trades employers’ forum coming here

NCDS Career Works and Confederation College are pleased to announce that, in partnership with the Northwest Training and Adjustment Board, Fort Frances High School and the Apprenticeship Services unit of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, they will be offering a free forum for skilled trades employers to attend and learn about the various programs that are available to assist with apprenticeships and the process required to sign up an apprentice.
The lack of skilled trades people has been identified as a major problem that is looming in the near future. It has been targeted by the province, a a situation which needs to be addressed now. Any employer, who is in a position to offer an apprenticeship qualifies as someone who should attend this forum.
Attendees will learn about wage subsidies, scholarships, high school grads, what Confederation College has to offer and how to access the services of the Apprenticeship Client Services Unit.
More importantly, it will be an opportunity for employers to voice their concerns and needs, as well as identify any roadblocks they see in the system.
The forum will take place at the Fort Frances campus of Confederation College on Tuesday, May 17 from 5:30 -7:30 p.m.
The evening promises to provide some interesting information and an opportunity for all to become more familiar with the programs that are offered.
There is no cost to the participants. Dinner will be served.
It would be greatly appreciated if those who are interested in attending would be greatly appreciated if those who are interested in attending would advise Steve Latimer at NCDS Career Works (274-2282), or Anne Renaud at Confederation College (274-5395) so that arrangements for meals and seating can be made.
