Six vying for fair queen crown

Renée Desbiens (Daw), Miss J.A. Electric, is 17 years old and entering grade 12 at Fort Frances High School. She plans on being a registered nurse.
Living in Emo with her parents and brother, Ryan, she is bilingual in French and English, which will be handy in years to come. Her hobbies include camping, fishing, rollerblading, music, reading and just being with friends.

Stacy Angus, 16, lives with her parents, Bob and Carol Angus, and brother, Darren, in Blackhawk. She will be entering grade 12 at Fort Frances High School.
She enjoys all sports but especially ringette, having played out of Kenora last year. The team went to the provincials and won the gold medal. Her ambition to pursue a career in forensic pathology.
She extends sincere thanks to her sponsor, Tompkins Hardware, and wishes the best of luck to the other contestants.

Julia Leek, Miss Nestor Falls Marine, is 15 years old and lives with her parents, Albert and Kathy Leek in Emo. She also has two brothers, Christopher and Anthony.
She’ll be entering grade 11 at Fort Frances High School this fall and plans on being an optometrist. Her hobbies are figure skating, playing the piano and flute, and being around with friends.
She thanks her sponsor, Nestor Falls Marine, for all their help and encouragement. She also extends best wishes to all the contestants, and invites everyone to come out and enjoy this year’s fall classic.

Tammi Mann, 16, lives with her parents, Terry and Linda Mann, and two brothers, Jason and Tyler, in Emo. She’ll be entering grade 11 at Fort Frances High School this fall.
Tammi enjoys all outdoor sports and spend time with her many friends. She carries the banner of her sponsor, Harold and Shirley of McQuaker Enterprises.
She wishes to thank McQuaker’s for all the help and support they’ve rendered.

Kris Bragg, Miss Emo Speedway, is 14 years old and lives in Emo with her mother, Georgina Bragg, and brother, Steven. She’ll be entering grade 10 at Fort Frances High School and plans a career as a child care worker.
Her hobbies are swimming, fishing, writing poetry, and outdoor sport activities. Kris keeps busy babysitting as her summer work.
She thanks her sponsor, Emo Speedway, for the enthusiasm she’s received. She hopes all the contestants enjoy being part of the pageant as much as she does. Good luck to all.

Jackie Reid, Miss Fairway, is 15 years old and lives with her parents, Brian and Kim Reid, and sister, Stacey, in Emo. She will be entering grade 11 at Fort Frances High School, and has her eye trained on becoming a doctor.
Her summer job is working weekends at Fairway Store but she still finds plenty of time for hobbies, including curling, bike riding, rollerblading, reading, and listening to music.
