There’s no doubt the Covid pandemic has slowed our lives down. However there are celebrations (both good and bad) happening in our District.
Congratulations to Rob Rea and Chelsey Walske who were wed at a Covid restricted wedding on April 3rd. The beautiful wedding took place in their home. Proud parents are Mark and Glenna Rea and Kenny and Suz-Anne Walske, plus Nanna Rea.
Happy belated 50th anniversary to Darold and Bonnie Shute. Their anniversary was April 17. They have been blessed with three children and spouses, ten grandchildren and one more on the way. Your community sends you blessings and wishes for many more years of happiness.
Happy 65th birthday to Cheryl Bragg (Allan). Your family and friends hope you enjoy many more birthdays. Special wishes from your Devlin folks – especially the ones on Cemetery Rd. where you grew up.
A happy birthday to Darren Hughes, who turned 50 on April 15. Our community sends you wishes for many more happy years.
I’d like to wish Bonnie Perusse a happy 80th birthday for April 10. Bonnie and her husband raised buffalo on Wasaw Rd. over twenty years ago. Many will remember her and husband Dale, who operated Chimo Building Centre for many years. And the thing that impresses me the most about this 80-year-old dynamo is she still works as a cashier at Canadian Tire. She has recently had a hip replacement but that didn’t slow her down for very long. When asked if she’s thinking of retirement… Bonnie looks at you with that “why would I do that?” look. When Canadian Tire is open again, be sure to tell her happy 80th.
Congratulations to Andrea (Jewiss) and AJ Hawley on the birth of their daughter, Lilah. She was born April 17 in southern Ontario. Proud grandparents are Paul and Janice Jewiss and Kim Hawley and Roy Sutters. Paul and Janice are ecstatic to welcome a granddaughter along with their four grandsons to their family.
Along with the above happy celebrations sadly there’s some unhappy events.
Sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Jim Kellar who passed away Saturday, April 17. Jim had been in Thunder Bay recently receiving medical care.
He was a friendly soul, a dedicated family member, friend and so much more. He will be sadly missed by many. May family and friends draw strength in knowing your community is holding you in their thoughts and prayers at this sad time.
Wishes for a full recovery to Gayle Hyatt who became ill and spend time in the ICU over the weekend. Gayle will be going to Thunder Bay Hospital for surgery. Hoping to see you home soon Gayle.
Robin’s 2 cents
Wife: I’m leaving now. I should be back in a couple hours, you want anything?
Husband: Ya! A couple more hours.
