The annual Devlin slo-pitch tournament held over the weekend ended in Fort Frances winning. Shade beat out a combined team of Blue Zones and Variety Pack to take the A division.
The B-side was won by Village People beating out Good Vibrations.
Devlin ballplayers started games Wednesday, July 9, with games for the weekend tournament. Wednesday night game ended with the Brew Jays beating Up North.
July 10 game showed Blue Zones over Good Vibrations.

The gas draw for June held monthly by Dev-Lynn’s was won by Dan Woodword from Devlin. He took home a propane stove.
Be sure to enter in this month’s gas draw for an 8 1/4 inch mitre saw.
All it takes to enter in the draw is a purchase of $25 worth of gasoline, be sure to sign a paper and enter it into the draw box.

A bridal shower was held for Angela Hyatt Monday evening at the home of Charlotte Hyatt, aunt to the bride. Many family members and friends attended.
Angela is the fiancé of Harold Gibson. They will be married Aug. 9.

A 4-H bus trip to Steinbach, Manitoba is taking place July 29. This is for all members. Members will attend the Steinbach Mennonite Village plus the Fun Mountain water slides.

Some good news for the week. Faye Kennedy, a co-worker, had the good fortune of winning $10,000 recently while gambling at a casino in Minnesota. Faye was quite surprised at her good fortune. Way to go, Faye!

The Honest Drunk
A woman was checking out her groceries at one of our local grocery stores, the honest drunk noticed she purchased two oranges, two potatoes, a pint of milk, two bagels and two small yogurt.
He said to her “You must be single.”
The woman said, “can you tell that just from the groceries I’ve bought?”
“No,” he said, “your ugly.”
