A 44-year-old man was sentenced here this week for several sex offences stemming back to the 1990s.
Garry Donald Mathewson appeared Wednesday at the Fort Frances Courthouse before Superior Court Justice J. Wright.
Mathewson was convicted of three counts of sexual exploitation and one count of sexual interference.
As a result, Mathewson has been ordered into custody to serve 66 months’ concurrent, with 141 days of pre-sentence custody.
In addition, he has been ordered to register with the Sexual Offenders Information Registry and submit DNA samples to police to be added to the Sexual Offenders Database.
Mathewson is prohibited from attending any place children frequent for 10 years, and also is prohibited from possessing firearms for his lifetime.
Back in July, the Fort Frances OPP Crime Unit, with the support of the Northwest Region Crime Unit and the OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch, charged Mathewson with several sexual offences.
The offences, involving three male victims, took place within Rainy River District and Thunder Bay District between 1992 and 1999.
