It’s the time of year when fall suppers abound right across the district.
The first one you’ll want to attend is the Dance community supper, which will feature a pig roast with all the trimmings, including homemade dessert.
It will be held this Sunday (Sept. 25) from 5-7 p.m. at the Dance Community Hall, located 16 km north of Devlin on Highway 613, then one km west on the Dance Community Hall Road.
Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for kids six-12 (those five and under eat free), with proceeds to keep the history of Dance alive.
Meanwhile, the Chapple Heritage fall supper is planned for Friday, Sept. 30 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Barwick Hall.
Entertainment will be provided by the Emo Legion Jammers.
Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for kids eight and under.
Finally, Guthrie United Church once again will host its ever-popular Harvest Supper, featuring a feast of turkey, ham, veggies, salads, and desserts, on Sunday, Oct. 2 from 5-7 p.m. at the Devlin Hall.
Admission is $13 for adults and $6 for kids aged six-12 (those five and under eat free).

Congratulations to Steve McEvoy and Crystal Hyatt, the daughter of Gord and Pat Hyatt, who were married this past Saturday (Sept. 17).
Although I was not able to attend, I’ve heard it was absolutely beautiful—from the bride to the decorating and all the other things that make for a perfect wedding.
Also celebrating a wedding on Saturday were Tess Galusha, daughter of Ralph and Tamara, and Tyler Mann, son of Linda and Terry Mann.
This beautiful outdoors wedding took your breath away. The decorating of the “castle-like” tent was superb, and the day was one that will never be forgotten.
Congratulations to both couples from your community—and may you spend many happy years together.

The annual Terry Fox Run was held Sunday afternoon in Fort Frances.
Devlin T.O.P.S. member Neila Booth organized the lunch following the event, with several other T.O.P.S. members volunteering to provide the nutritious meal.
Hats off to all members who volunteered their time, but also to the many who walked/ran and raised pledges for this worthy cause.

Neila Booth was a busy lady last weekend as she also travelled to Walker, Mn. to attend the annual “Walker Run.”
She competed in the 10K race and finished second overall in her age division.
Way to go, Neila!

Sympathy is extended to Alf, John, and Ron Redford and families on the passing of their mother, Ethel, earlier this month.
Your community is thinking of you at this sad time.

Robin’s 2¢:
An elderly man was stopped by the police around 1 a.m. and asked where he was going at that time of night.
“I’m going to a lecture about alcohol abuse and the effects it has on the human body,” the man replied.
“Really?” asked the officer. “Who is giving that lecture at this time of night?”
“That would be my wife,” the man sighed.
