Several facing charges

Shortly before 3 a.m. on Feb. 24, members of the Rainy River District OPP were called to investigate a traffic complaint on Portage Avenue North.
As a result, a 20-year-old Fort Frances male was charged with operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level over .08 mg and operating a vehicle while impaired.
He also was charged with resisting a police officer.
As well, the male was issued provincial offence notices under the Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Act in relation to this investigation.
His vehicle was impounded for seven days.
He is scheduled to appear in court here on March 25.
Meanwhile, on Feb. 20, members of the Rainy River District OPP received information that a member of the community was attempting to sell a handgun.
An investigation was undertaken involving the Rainy River District Crime Unit and the Northwest Region’s Emergency Response Team.
As a result of this investigation, 24-year-old Fort Frances male was charged with one count of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl and hydromorphone).
A 28-year-old Rainy River man was charged with one count of carrying a concealed weapon and one count of trafficking in firearms.
Both were scheduled to appear in court here yesterday afternoon.
