Numerous individuals have been arrested and charged following a search warrant execution in the City of Kenora.
On February 16, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Community Street Crime Unit, Emergency Response Team, and Canine Unit, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Minto Avenue.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of six individuals and the seizure of illicit substances included suspected fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and hydromorphone. Canadian currency, edged weapons, and other items associated with drug trafficking were also seized. The estimated street value of illicit substances seized is approximately $14,600.
As a result, a 35-year-old, Kenora resident has been arrested and charged with: Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose – two counts; Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – one count each for Cocaine; Methamphetamine; and two counts for Opioid – two counts; Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.
A 45-year-old of Rat Portage First Nation, has been arrested and charged with: Possession of Imitation Weapon for Dangerous Purpose; Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – one charge each for Opioid, Methamphetamine and Cocaine; Failure to Comply with Release Order – two counts.
A 27-year-old Kenora resident has been arrested and charged with: Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose; Carrying Concealed Weapon; Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine; Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine.
A 27-year-old, of Kenora, has been arrested and charged with:Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – one count each for Methamphetamine, Cocaine and Opioid.
A 20-year-old, of Rat Portage First Nation, has been arrested and charged with: Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine and Cocaine.
A 25-year-old, of Kenora, has been arrested and charged with: Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine and Opioid.
Three have been held in custody. The remainder have been released from custody. All accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora at a later date.
