SCHREIBER — The Township of Schreiber has a new candidate for mayor: Robert Fisk, a delivery driver for a local business.
Fisk, who ran unsuccessfully for councillor in 2022, told Newswatch he’s motivated to run by “my passion for the town, my passion to see it exceed expectations.”
He said in a phone interview on Tuesday he brings “a youthful perspective” to the election — “and a drive that I don’t believe anybody else has.”
Schreiber “is falling apart” and “we’ve got to move into the future with a fresher set of eyes,” he said.
For now, Fisk is the lone candidate for mayor. Incumbent Kevin Mullins hasn’t filed nomination papers.
Fisk was sixth among 11 candidates for four councillor seats in 2022.
He described the 2022 run as “testing the waters to see if that was something that I would want to get into.”
“This time around,” he said, “this is something I’m going to get into, but I’m not running for councillor.
“I chose mayor because I don’t like to do things half-assed.”
Nominations for mayor, councillor and school board positions are open until 2 p.m. on Aug. 21. Election day is Oct. 26.
