Hearty applause and congratulations to Erin Wood (Woodgate) on winning the Business Woman of the Year Award at the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce business awards gala last Thursday night at the Adventure Inn.
Erin went into business in December, 2010 by starting a successful hair and nail shop, “Simplicity,” which is located in the Rainy Lake Plaza in Fort Frances.
She is very happy with this award, and I could hear the pride in the voice of her husband, Todd, as he told me about the fun-filled, exciting moment when the award was announced.
Proud parents are Laurie and Bill Woodgate.

Sympathy to the family and many friends of Lorraine Norris, who passed away Friday.
Lorraine was a vibrant, witty, and classy lady. I remember her days in Burriss as her family often socialized and enjoyed fun times with my parents.
She recently was diagnosed with cancer and her quick passing has left all who knew her saddened.
She will be sadly missed, but her quick sense of humour and style will stay in our memories and hearts forever.

Sympathy, as well, to Kathy and Leo Pruys on the passing of her brother-in-law, Larry Gagne, husband of Rosemarie.
He also succumbed to cancer last week.
Leo and Kathy attended the funeral in Sudbury, along with their daughter, Dawn, who travelled up from Toronto.

Cards played at the Devlin Hall recently saw Adelia Guba and Jim Kellar take the high while Aggie Waldeck and Rudy Meyers had the low score.
The next card games will be played there Tuesday, March 13. Admission is $5, which includes a light lunch.

The Emo Legion will hold its next Bingo on Tuesday (March 7), with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

Spring Fever Days are coming up in April and once again the Emo Legion will host its annual “Crafts Galore.”
Tables cost $10 per day, which can be reserved by calling the Legion at 482-2250.

Robin’s 2¢:
Sarah, the self-appointed arbiter of the town’s morals, stuck her nose into everyone’s business.
She made a mistake, however, when she accused her neighbour, George, of being an alcoholic after spotting his pickup parked in front of a bar one afternoon.
“George, everyone who sees it there will know what you’re doing,” she told him in front of their church group.
George ignored her and walked away.
Later that evening, he parked his pickup in front of Sarah’s house and left it there all night.
