Sales barn manager terminated

Russell Richards is no longer working as the sales barn manager for the Rainy River Cattlemen’s Association.
Following a special meeting of the RRCA’s board of directors held back on May 2, Richards received notice of his termination, which cited those present at the meeting unanimously voted in agreement to cease his contract.
RRCA president Ken McKinnon only would say yesterday there were some “internal problems,” which resulted in this action.
However, the RRCA’s letter stated the association’s appreciation of all Richards’ hard work and dedication to the sales barn, adding he helped bring the barn forward and that his ability to identify and handle cattle was an asset to the sale operation.
McKinnon explained a new sales manager is not required until their fall sale. The RRCA board will determine how to fill the vacancy closer to then.
Richards could not be reached for comment yesterday.
