RRFDC to hold videoconference on marketing

The Rainy River Future Development Corp. has had several workshops this month.
One upcoming event that may be of interest is a seminar which will introduce the participants to basic of marketing concepts.
The videoconference with Mark Baxter, from Outlook Market Research and Consulting Ltd., will be held in the RRFDC’s training room (located at 608 Scott St. in Fort Frances) on Tuesday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m.-noon.
The overriding lesson of the seminar will be that marketing is a multi-faceted discipline that it involves much more that just selling.
It will begin by laying out the stages of a marketing plan, going over the 4 Ps, and discussing relevant examples.
The cost of the seminar is $5.

St. Patrick’s C.W.L. will be having a Christmas tea and bake sale on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 1-3 p.m. in the church hall.
There will be baking, crafts, draws, religious articles, and white elephant tables. Tea, coffee, sandwiches, and dainties also will be served.
Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children under 10.

The Emo & District Hospital Auxiliary will be collecting non-perishable food items during the “Holly Daze” parade coming up on Friday, Dec. 4.
They will have boxes to collect this food, and then will deliver it to the Emo food cupboard.

If you missed the “Shiny Penny Table” at the recent “Sounds of Holiday Cheer” evening at Knox United Church in Emo, the theme baskets are on display (in picture form) at Meyers Clothing in Emo until “Holly Daze” at the beginning of December.
Tickets will be available for purchase, with the winners being drawn during “Holly Daze” on the first weekend of December.
The baskets include themes such as “Guy on the Go,” “Toy Story,” “Movie Night,” “Christmas at Grandma’s,” and many more.
Check out the baskets in the next couple of weeks, purchase some tickets, and choose your favourite theme.

The Emo “Holly Daze” committee is hosting a “Beautiful Baby” contest.
If you have a beautiful baby who is less than 18 months, and would like to enter him/her in the contest, contact Cheryl at Meyers Clothing (482-2893).
All pictures must be in by Nov. 28.
Pictures should be 4×6 in size, but 5×7 also will be accepted. Please include all information about the baby on the back of the picture.
The voting, which will take place during the “Holly Daze” weekend (Dec. 4-5), will be done by shoppers dropping coins in the bucket of their choice.
Monies raised will go to support the Emo spray park.

The handi-van will be providing seniors’ tours of the holiday lights in Emo on Thursday, Dec. 3 from 6-8 p.m.
Pick-ups will take place at the Golden Age Manor common room and also at Queen Street Manor.
There is no cost, and refreshments will be provided.

Members of the Emo-La Vallee-Chapple Healthy Communities Coalition are looking for presenters for future “Country Club” sessions.
If you would like to present information about a country you are familiar with, call Siobhan at the Northwestern Health Unit’s office in Emo.

The Emo Centennial Choir will be presenting an evening of Christmas music and readings, entitled “On That Night in Bethlehem,” on Friday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church.
Director Renée Martin-Brown, accompanist Lisa Vos, and the choir have been working for many weeks to prepare for the evening.
Guest musicians will include Katherine Williams, Diane Veldhuisen, and Dean Lindstrom.
A free-will offering will be taken up to help support a local charity.

A free baby food-making workshop for parents, guardians, and caregivers is planned for this Friday (Nov. 27) at 10 a.m. at the “Best Start” hub in Emo.
