RRFDC elects new board members

The Rainy River Future Development Corp. elected three new members and re-elected two others during their May 29th meeting at the Fort Frances Curling Club.
New members Eugene McPherson (Couchiching), Rob Kilgour (Devlin), and Donna McDonald (Devlin) will join chairman Telford Advent (Stratton) and incumbent directors John McTaggart (Fort Frances), La Vallee Reeve Ken McKinnon, Moe Henry (Stratton), and Ralph Hunsperger (Emo), who are serving the second year of their two-year terms.
Former Fort Frances resident Julian Morelli resigned from the board.
“It’s always nice to have new members. It broadens your focus and brings new ideas,” said Reeve McKinnon. “We’re all guilty of tunnel vision.”
“It’ll stimulate the board and it’s nice to have Eugene McPherson on from the aboriginal community,” he added.
“I think it’s great that we have Eugene McPherson representing First Nations,” agreed Advent. “It’s wonderful. It’s a step that’s been long overdue.
“We went to Alaska and he was up there and I think he will be a valuable addition to the board,” he added. “I’m looking forward to the year ahead.”
“There lots of new activities happening in the district,” echoed McTaggart. “The work that the economic development side is doing, the business investments, and our [promotional] video should be out soon.
“We’re really excited as the new members coming on and I think it’s going to be a terrific year,” he said.
The eight board directors will elect a new chair at their next meeting June 19.
