The Rainy River Federation of Agriculture will be holding its 35th-annual dinner and general meeting this Saturday (Nov. 5) at the Millennium Hall in Stratton.
A social hour will begin at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. and then presentations.
Guest speaker for the evening will be Peter Jeffery, senior policy researcher with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture.
He will be speaking on farm trucks/trailers, ATVs, and wildlife damage.

November is Diabetes Awareness Month and this year we have a reason to celebrate!
You may not realize it but it’s been 90 years since the discovery of insulin? Imagine the impact this discovery has had on the lives of so many people around the world.
What would life be like had insulin not been discovered?
It’s important, however, to remember that insulin is a treatment and not a cure. With the support of people from Rainy River District and from across the country, the Canadian Diabetes Association continues to fund research it hopes soon will lead to a cure.
Throughout November, events will be taking place across Northwestern Ontario—and all of Canada—to raise awareness about diabetes.
The Canadian Diabetes Association encourages you to attend or support these events as participants, or help with them as volunteers where needed.
Also throughout November, Pharmasave in Fort Frances will be selling “blue circles.” For a donation of $1 or more, customers write their name on a blue circle, which then is displayed in the store for the entire month.
All money collected will be donated to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
As well, watch for members of the Voyageur Lions Club at businesses around Fort Frances on Saturday, Nov. 12, which is the Lions’ national tag day in support of the CDA.
Spread the word so your friends can watch for the Lions.
Last year in Northwestern Ontario, the Lions raised more than $1,300 for the CDA.

The Emo and District Lions perogy-making day has switched to Saturday, Nov. 12 starting at 8 a.m. at the Christian Reformed Church.
A dozen perogies will be selling for $5.
