The Rainy River Cattlemen’s Association had election fever last week.
A historic turnout of 65 members at its annual meeting in Stratton led to elections for just about every office for the first time in as long as anyone could remember.
•Zone ‘A’ (Fort Frances/Miscampbell area)
Seven people were nominated for the pair of two-year terms up for grabs and all let their names stand. In the end, Ken McKinnon and Shawn Hyatt were elected.
•Zone ‘B’ (Barwick/Richardson area)
Six were nominated for the one two-year term available and three let their names stand. Darrel Angus was elected.
Meanwhile, six were nominated for the one one-year term, with two of those letting their names stand. Jason Teeple was elected.
•Zone ‘C’ (Stratton/Morson area)
Five were nominated for the one two-year term, but only Amos Brielmann let his name stand and hence was acclaimed.
•Zone ‘D’ (Blue/Worthington area)
Three were nominated, with two letting their names stand. Herb Govier was elected.
•OCA Advisory Committee
Kim Jo Bliss and Dennis Boersema were elected to the position and as alternate, respectively.
•OCA delegate
Fifteen were nominated, including Dennis Boersema, but only he let his name stand. But if he has to go as the alternate for the OAC Advisory Committee, the board will find someone to go.
The RRCA will elect a chairman from within the board at its next meeting.
