Riverside Health Care on Friday released information on employees paid a salary of $100,000 or more.
The Public Sector Disclosure Act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Ontario government to disclose the names, positions, salaries and taxable benefits of these employees annually.
At Riverside Health Care, 15 employees earned $100,000 or more in 2012. This is an increase from 12 in calendar year 2011.

“Riverside Health Care continues to enhance its efforts in quality, accountability and transparency,” said Riverside board chair Michelle Marinaro, noting the Quality Improvement Plans are posted publicly on the hospital’s website.
“This was a year of leadership transition,” she noted.
Riverside also clarified a discrepancy in how much its current and past CEOs got paid.
Current president and CEO Allan Katz earned $128,606.25 in 2012, while outgoing president and CEO Wayne Woods, who retired on March 31, 2012, was paid $185,820.04.
In addition to three months’ salary, Woods also received compensation for unused vacation and statutory holidays over his 13 years of service to the organization.
“Our new president and Chief Executive Officer, Allan Katz, was recruited in April 2012 at a lower rate of pay than Mr. Woods. Further, his compensation package does not contain the same provisions as his predecessor,” explained Marinaro.
Riverside Health Care is a multi-site, multi-function health care system in Rainy River District that employs over 550 people throughout Rainy River District and has a budget of over $42 million.
RHC operates hospitals in Fort Frances, Emo and Rainy River, Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home and La Verendrye Non-Profit Supportive Housing in Fort Frances. Each community is also served by Riverside Community Counselling which provides mental health and addictions services, Community Support Services through Rainycrest and Valley Diabetes Education Centre which provides important chronic disease management programming.
