Riverside furniture sale on tomorrow

A wide variety of items will be up for grabs during the Riverside Foundation for Health Care’s second giant used furniture sale, which is planned for tomorrow (Saturday) at the Couchiching recreation centre.
Foundation director Teresa Hazel said yesterday a range of furniture either will be up for sale, or for bid at auction—ranging from a hideaway bed, roll-out cot, desks, and tables to swivel chairs, reclining chairs, antique items, and some unique furniture hand-painted by June Parnell.
A home computer and photocopier even have been donated.
Hazel added all of the pieces are at least in fine shape, adding this Foundation fundraiser has found a niche as a means for people to sell off quality furniture too good to throw away.
The sale will run from 9 a.m.-noon, followed by a live auction on select items by local auctioneer Telford Advent.
Hazel noted if anyone still has an item they’d like to donate to the fundraiser, organizers will be accepting furniture in good condition between 4 and 6 p.m. today at the rec centre.
Furniture either can be donated outright, with all the proceeds going to the Foundation, or be sold on consignment. Hazel said the option of selling items on consignment is great because then both the Foundation and the individual benefit.
“For consignment items, you name the selling price and we take a 15 percent fee,” Hazel explained.
The Couchiching recreation centre is located on Highway 11, across from the CC Complex. But to be sure no one misses the sale, organizers will have marked the path showing the way.
“Follow the red balloons and we’ll see you there,” Hazel remarked, adding refreshments also will for sale there.
Riverside Foundation for Health Care’s first giant used furniture sale, held back in September, 2002, raised nearly $5,000.
