Riverside Foundation winner chosen

Press Release

Riverside Foundation for Health Care is excited to announce that the winner of the inaugural Riverside 50/50 Online Raffle is Donna Doman of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Born and raised in Fort Frances, Doman (nee Fedoruk), who was literally left speechless with the news of her winning $23,825, was happy to support the Riverside Foundation with her ticket purchase.
Doman had learned of the raffle while in town visiting family last month and intended to purchase tickets but had forgotten to do so while still in Ontario. Lucky for her, while back in the district at her family cabin on Bears Pass for the long weekend, her niece brought the raffle up in conversation. Doman purchased her tickets at 9:00pm on Sunday night, despite her sister telling her not to bother since she already had the winning number.
As her mother is a resident at Rainycrest Long Term Care, Doman plans to donate some of her winnings back to the Foundation to be directed towards Rainycrest. As well as donating to the Foundation, she also plans to give to Chron’s and Colitis Canada in honour of her daughter. She is still unsure of what she plans to do with the rest of her winnings but does plan to share some with her children.
There are still some outstanding expenses to be accounted for, but at an estimated cost of $7,000 per bladder scanner the raffle raised enough money to purchase the requested two scanners for Riverside Health Care Facilities. Because of the success of the raffle, discussions will be held at the next Foundation Board Meeting about the possibility of holding future electronic 50/50 raffles.
Riverside Foundation would like to congratulate both our grand prize winner as well as the early bird winner, and thank everyone who purchased tickets. The community support that rallied around this cause was what allowed the pot to grow so large. Finally, a very special thank you goes out to Manitou Weather Station Fishing Lodge for their generous donation of the early bird prize.
In other Foundation news, due to social distancing guidelines, the annual Fall Gala will not be taking place this year. In lieu of the gala, an online silent auction is being planned with more information to follow soon. If you are interested in donating an item for the auction please call or email the Foundation Office at 807-274-4803 or allison.cox@rhcf.on.ca.
