The annual “Cuts for Cancer” will take place at the Hair and Body Care Shoppe in Emo on Saturday, April 16 in conjunction with Spring Fever Days.
Haircuts, by appointment, will run from 8:30 a.m.-noon.
Then the official shaving of the heads, as well as Vern Thompson’s beard this year, begins at 12:30 p.m.
If you are interested in having your head shaved for this worthy cause, it’s not too late to enter. Just pick up a pledge and start signing up all your friends and relatives.
Meanwhile, anyone wanting to see Vern say bye-bye to his 21-year-old beard should look for one of his pledge sheets around town and make a healthy donation.
Let’s help Vern reach his goal of raising $5,000.

A large group of people attended last weekend’s workshop entitled, “The Art of Visiting People with Dementia.”
Hosted by Rainy River District United Churches and the Canadian Mental Health Association, the event gave those on hand an overview of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia, how dementia can change communication patterns, and tips for visiting people who have dementia.
They also enjoyed a light lunch provided by organizers.
Thanks goes out to Jolene Morriseau, a geriatric mental health worker, for giving such a great presentation.
