Residents thanked for recycling efforts

Greg’s Recycling and the Township of Chapple would like to thank all for their excellent recycling efforts in 2003.
Greg’s Recycling processed 29,723 pounds of recyclables last year, making for a monthly average of 2,477 pounds.
The breakdown included paper (10,896 pounds), plastics (2,756), steel (2,537), pop cans (1,125), cardboard (9,954), and non-ferrous material (2,455).
Acceptable materials for recycling are aluminum cans, tin cans, plastics #1, #2, #4, #5, and #7, newsprint, office paper, corrugated cardboard, and magazines.
Unacceptable materials include glass, styrofoam, plastics #3 and #6, boxboard, and wetboard.
The Township of Chapple also advises that Ontarians are entitled to know about the quality of the water they consume.
If your water is supplied by the Barwick water treatment plant, you may contact the municipal office for a free quarterly report of their water testing results.
In other news, Chapple is looking for a livestock valuer. If you are interested or need further information, contact the municipal office at 487-2354.
Memberships for the fitness centre are available at the municipal office. The cost is $70 (single) or $120 (family).
Chapple council also advises residents to remember that building permits are required in the township for all new construction, decks, additions, and alterations.

Names have now gone to the engraver, but it is not too late to buy a brick at the Chapple lighthouse in your own name or in memory of a loved one.
