The Emo-La Vallee Community Centre was the setting for a very successful Family Day event on Monday, Feb. 21.
Hosted by the Emo-La Vallee-Chapple Healthy Communities Coalition, about 150 people took advantage of the opportunity to spend some family time skating, playing shinny hockey, playing board games, and visiting.
Everyone also enjoyed the hot chocolate, oranges, and popcorn provided.
A free draw for a Clover Valley Farmers’ Market “Healthy Living” food box was won by Helen Tompkins while Gus Hunsperger won the free draw for four curling passes at the Emo curling rink.
As well, the Healthy Communities Coalition had on hand informational displays on three of its other projects—the “Healthy Living” food box (in partnership with Clover Valley Farmers’ Market), the Positive Ticketing program (rewarding youth for good behavior), and the community garden.
Watch for these programs in your community or feel free to call Wilma Sletmoen, health educator with the Northwestern Health Unit (482-2211) for more information.
The coalition would like to thank everyone for coming out and making Family Day such a success.
Special thanks to the high school volunteers and canteen operators for their assistance, and to the board and staff of the Emo-La Vallee Community Centre for making this event possible.
