Rainycrest Auxiliary planning spring tea

Press Release

It may not look like spring out there yet but spring is in full swing at Rainycrest Long-Term Care here.
The Rainycrest Auxiliary is busy planning a spring tea set for Wednesday, May 11 from 2-3:30 p.m. Phone a friend and come for a great time of socializing, tea or coffee, sandwiches, and dessert.
There also will be a bake table, “Lucky Lotto,” and door prizes.
Auxiliary memberships will be available, as well.
The Rainycrest staff hosted a volunteer appreciation luncheon last Thursday featuring a delicious Mexican fiesta. Dressed for the occasion, staff and volunteers were decked out in sombreros and moustaches—men and women alike.
Meanwhile, the Tuck Shop is a busy corner in the Rainycrest lobby. The recent appeal by Linda Ahrens saw a great response from the community for donated items.
The shelves are full and the prices make your purchase a real bargain!
Remember, too, “Ice Cream Days.” Tomorrow (April 28) will see free ice cream for all the residents.
A welcome party is being planned for all new residents on May 19. Stop by and help them feel welcome in their new surroundings.
Diane Maxey reports pull tabs are back but more sellers are still needed. She expressed her appreciation for all those who take time out from busy spring clean-up to help out.
She also plans on bringing back the residents’ choir—hoping to resume practice sometime in May.
Any resident who would like to join can contact Diane either in person or by calling her at 274-7309.
She also expressed her gratitude for the number of memoriam donations that are given for the Rainycrest Auxiliary.
Please remember, when making a donation, to write the name of the person being honoured, your (donor’s) name, and the family member you wish the acknowledgement sent to.
The “Sing-a-long with friends,” a group of volunteers who share their time and voices to lead visitors and residents in song, meet in the common room twice a month (the second and fourth Tuesday).
A big thank you to May Ann Kahler for her accompaniment.
Meanwhile, Rainycrest chaplain M.J. Leewis-Kirk expressed her appreciation for the variety of district churches and organizations that are active in the Rainycrest community.
Whether a resident is affiliated with a certain religion or not, there are many resources available to them through church visitors, services in the chapel, or visits with M.J. herself.
Come to visit, volunteer, and join in the sing-a-long.
It might be cold outside but Rainycrest is warm and welcoming—and celebrating spring.
