The Rainy River Curling Club was broken into and robbed during the overnight hours of Feb. 3 and 4.
The OPP confirmed the break and enter was reported yesterday and are actively investigating the incident.
The curling club’s president Melissa Jenson said those who committed the crime stole a brand new 65″ T.V that was purchased in November as well as most of the club’s food and alcohol.
Cleaning supplies and garbage bags were stolen as well, and a 26 ounce bottle of spiced rum was drank by the suspects on the premise before leaving with the stolen goods, she added.
“What hurts the most is that we are a completely volunteer run club with very little money,” Jenson said.
“Our members pay their way through the season with the curling dues that keeps the doors open. It’s the people that sit on the board and curl in the club that keep this place running,” she continued.
“This is a huge set back for us!”
Jenson said she encourages everybody in the community to be on the lookout for the club’s 65″ TV. It’s serial number is 65G191997H01350.
“Rainy River people need to be aware of what is walking on our streets, we need to protect our community and the very little buildings and clubs that we have in it,” Jenson noted.
The crime would have taken place between 8 p.m. Monday and noon Tuesday.
“They likely had a vehicle so if anyone seen a vehicle in the parking lot during those times please let us know!” said Jenson.
