Rainfall helping fire crews

No new fires were confirmed in the Northwest Region by yesterday afternoon.
One fire was confirmed by the end of the day on Tuesday.
Kenora Fire #66 was listed as “under control” at 1.8 hectares in size at last report.
Recent rainfall in the far north is helping FireRanger crews in their efforts on Red Lake Fire #38 near North Spirit Lake and Sioux Lookout Fire #37 near Sachigo Lake.
The latter blaze was declared as “being held” at 200 hectares is size yesterday.
There currently are 34 active fires in the region, 33 of which are listed as either “under observation,” “under control,” or “being held.”
The forest fire hazard is “low” to “moderate” across most of the region, with an area of “high” to “extreme” hazard in the far north of Sioux Lookout and Nipigon districts.
