Rain swamps district

Rainy River District saw an unusual amount of rainfall over the Hallowe’en weekend, but not enough to break the record.
Environment Canada said Fort Frances received 49 mm of rain from Friday evening through Sunday.
Atikokan received slightly more with 55.6 mm, but Devlin topped both with 68 mm—the most rainfall in any town in Northwestern Ontario over the weekend.
The La Vallee River spilled over its banks on the weekend, causing some water to lie over roads in the Burriss area.
The total rainfall in Fort Frances in October was 94.2 mm, which is “way above normal,” Environment Canada said, but still not record-setting.
The normal rainfall for October is 53 mm while the record is 127 mm, set in 1998.
