No new fires were reported in the Northwest Region by late yesterday.
As well, the number of active fires in the region has been reduced to two.
Red Lake Fire #30, a 3,739-hectare blaze that crossed the Manitoba boundary into Ontario on May 22, was listed as “under control” at last report.
Meanwhile, Red Lake Fire #4, a 0.3-ha fire burning on an island near Pikangikum First Nation since May 7, remains “under observation.”
The forest fire hazard is “low” throughout the Northwest Region, with the exception of pockets of “moderate” hazard in the far north.
