How much can the district raise in one day?
That’s the premise for the “Just Imagine” campaign’s radio-a-thon taking place next Wednesday (Jan. 24).
Residents from across the district are being encouraged to call in their pledge or donation to B•93, which will be live on location in the cafeteria at La Verendrye hospital from 6-10 a.m.
Campaign volunteers will be serving up pancakes and sausages to anyone who drops in to make a donation or pledge.
“We’re inviting the public to come down and have breakfast with Riverside and B•93,” explained Teresa Hazel, director of the Riverside Foundation for Health Care.
A district-wide challenge also is being issued to businesses and employee groups of 25 and under.
“We’re challenging them to raise the most funds for the ‘Just Imagine’ campaign by Jan. 24,” said Hazel.
“They can have a bake sale at their business or collect toonies from staff members,” she noted. “They can also make personal pledges and tally that into their total.
“We already have some businesses who have pre-registered,” added Hazel.
Celeste’s and The Den, for instance, will be donating $2 from all services they provide next Tuesday (Jan. 23). As well, Gillons’ Insurance and the Fort Frances Dental Centre have some fun ideas to raise funds over the new week.
All businesses that participate are encouraged to call in their total to the radio-a-thon next Wednesday between 6 and 10 a.m., or they can stop by the cafeteria at La Verendrye Hospital and announce their pledge/donation on air.
The business that collects the most funds will win a free lunch. “And, we’ll deliver it anywhere in the Rainy River District,” added Hazel.
Campaign chair Deane Cunningham will be serving up pancakes next Wednesday and hopes to see community members stop by.
“It will be a great opportunity to meet people and talk about the campaign,” he said. “It’s also the perfect opportunity for those who have been putting off making their donation or pledge.
“They can drop if off and get a free breakfast at the same time,” Cunningham chuckled.
If you’d like to pre-register your business to participate in the district-wide challenge to raise funds, call the Foundation office at 274-4803 or simply call in your total during the “Just Imagine” radio-a-thon.
