Quiet on fire scene

the MNRF

No new fires were reported by early yesterday evening in the Northwest Region.
Recent rain has eased the fire hazard in the north and more rain in the forecast.
This will drop the hazard to “low” through the region heading into the weekend.
There remains 13 active fires in the region, including six in Nipigon District, five in Red Lake District, and one each in the Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay districts.
In related news, Ontario continues to support Alberta firefighting efforts.
There currently are 138 personnel there, although 83 are scheduled to return to Ontario.
