Quiet on fire scene

No new forest fires were confirmed all week.
There currently are eight active fires in the region, all of which were listed as “being observed.”
None are expected to threaten people or values.
To date this season, 126 fires have been confirmed, charring 1,370 hectares in total.
The forest fire hazard remains “low” for the region.

Meanwhile, Ontario continues to provide support to B.C. in a firefighting effort that has been ongoing since mid-summer.
There are now 191 personnel on assignment to assist in ongoing forest fire management efforts there.
In addition, Ontario has provided 430 power pumps, two values protection units, 41 portable relay tanks, and 10,000 lengths of hose to B.C.
