Public board appoints principals, vice-principals

The Rainy River District School Board has announced several new appointments for principals and vice-principals of its schools effective in September.
Ian Simpson will replace Kendall Olsen as principal of Riverview School and McCrosson-Tovell School.
Simpson began the 2006/07 school year as principal of Sturgeon Creek School and the Sturgeon Creek Alternative Program. During the school year, he was appointed to the position of assistant to the director.
Meanwhile, Kerri Tolen will return from a leave of absence and replace Anne Carradice as vice-principal of Riverview School and McCrosson-Tovell School.
Carradice will be a French consultant and has a planned leave of absence for a portion of the 2007/08 school year.
She will be returning to an administrative position in 2008/09.
Olsen will replace Leslie Barr-Kellar as principal at Sturgeon Creek School and Sturgeon Creek Alternative Program.
She, in turn, will replace Gemma Lamonato, who is retiring, as vice-principal of Donald Young School and Nestor Falls School.
Barr-Kellar began the 2006/07 school year as vice-principal at Crossroads School. During the school year, she was appointed to the position of acting principal at Sturgeon Creek School and Sturgeon Creek Alternative Program.
And finally, Jim Chorney, acting vice-principal at Rainy River High School, will remain there with his appointment to the position of vice-principal.
“I am very pleased with the assignments for the 2007/08 school year,” said Education Director Jack McMaster.
“We have moved administrators to best meet the needs for themselves and the communities, and feel strongly that the experience of this group will further our efforts to improve student success,” he added.
