Northwestern Health Unit has revised our COVID-19 numbers based on recent ministry guidance provided in version 8.0 of the Management of Cases and Contacts of COVID-19 in Ontario (Jun 23/20) (http://ow.ly/4K7550At3Y0) to promote consistent reporting across the province.
That updated document recommended that a positive test result in an asymptomatic person be treated as a confirmed case.
The two additional cases posted to the NWHU website on July 8 are two asymptomatic cases from several weeks ago that meet those updated guidelines. Both cases are resolved.
There are currently 106,367 confirmed cases in Canada.
— Quebec: 56,079 confirmed (including 5,603 deaths, 25,534 resolved).
— Ontario: 36,178 confirmed (including 2,700 deaths, 31,805 resolved)
— Alberta: 8,436. confirmed (including 157 deaths, 7,659 resolved).
— British Columbia: 2,990 confirmed (including 183 deaths, 2,645 resolved).
— Nova Scotia: 1,065 confirmed (including 63 deaths, 998 resolved)
— Saskatchewa.n: 806 confirmed (including 15 deaths, 737 resolved).
— Manitoba: 314 confirmed (including 7 deaths, 307 resolved), 11 presumptive.
