Protesters charged in bridge blockade

Kenora OPP has charged 12 individuals in relation to the blockade at Separation Bridge on English River Road.
Police responded to the illegal blockade on Tuesday afternoon, when it was reported that protesters had set up a roadblock on the bridge and were preventing logging trucks from passing.
On Wednesday, police arrested nine protesters at the site, all of whom were identified by police as participants in the Highway 17A blockade that took place back on July 13.
All were charged with two counts of mischief and released with a court date of Sept. 18.
Three protesters who were not arrested at the scene, in order to care for small children, also were charged with two counts each of mischief and will appear in court that same day.
