After a process that has taken more than a decade, Echo Lake Estates, a new subdivision in the west end of Emo, now has fully-serviced lots available.
The 70 lots, located just a few minutes off the highway on Off lake Road, are ready with access to water, sewer, gas, hydro, and Bell services.
“This is an exciting thing because there are not many fully-serviced building lots within the district,” noted Kathy Judson of Remax, who is handling the sale of the lots.
Local developer Wendy Judson received final approval this past spring, after the project had been left on hold for some time.
“It was in the fall of last year that we started working very aggressively to get it fully registered and getting everything going,” Kathy Judson voiced. “It’s a long time coming and maybe there wasn’t as much demand back then as there is now.
“I think everything happens in it’s right time and I think this is certainly the right time,” she added, citing with the possibility of mines flourishing in the district, there will be a lot of people looking for places to build.
“It will be a great boom for the Emo area and for the district as well,” she stressed.
“Having these lots available will be good if the mines in the area begin to take shape,” echoed Emo councillor Gary Judson.
“I think the whole district will benefit from it,” he added.
Kathy Judson indicated the properties in the subdivision are very affordable properties with prices starting out at $19,900.
“They are great building lots, a good size,” Judson voiced, noting the average size is about 60 x 150.
The Township of Emo has applied for funding from the government to expand the water treatment plant to meet keep up with the growing community.
“It is certainly a good think for Emo,” said Councillor Gary Judson. “I think we will fill the lots in the subdivision. We have a nice little town and all the amenities people need.”
Kathy Judson noted the lots are ready for building permits immediately.
“We’ve had quite a bit of interest in them and people are starting to bring us in offers and are working on building plans,” she said. “It’s just a matter of them picking their dream home, getting the plans going, and having someone put the house up.”
She stressed they are looking forward to having a good year on this project.
“I think it will be a very affordable, but quality built subdivision,” she added.
