Canada Border Services Agency officers at the Pigeon River border crossing, south of Thunder Bay, seized almost six kilograms of marijuana during a vehicle inspection there Friday (Nov. 16).
The drugs are valued at $119,934.
Border Services officers discovered small quantities of hashish and marijuana during a vehicle search after the driver stopped to ask for directions back to the Trans-Canada highway.
A closer examination of the vehicle yielded four bags concealed in the trunk containing roughly six kilos of marijuana.
A 27-year-old Saint-Bruno, Que. man was arrested and charged with possession of a narcotic under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The individual was released on a $500 bond and a promise to appear in court.
A court date to appear on the charges has not been determined.
