Police Week coming up

OPP officers throughout Rainy River District, in conjunction with police services from across Ontario, will be recognizing Police Week from May 14-20.
Since 1970, Police Week has been observed in May, coinciding with Peace Officers Memorial Day, which is recognized internationally on May 15 each year.
This year’s theme is “Safer Communities: Police and Communities Working Together.”
Local officers will be on hand this weekend at the home and leisure show in Atikokan, as well as at the Women’s Health Symposium in Fort Frances, to kick off Police Week activities.
Other events have been planned throughout the district, which will focus on community and police efforts to promote personal and public safety through prevention, preparedness, and social development.
Support your local police during the week of May 14—and all year long. Join the OPP and help make Rainy River District safe, strong, and prosperous.
